Bourne is one of the more “slept on” towns on the Cape.
But, don’t let it’s lack of buzz turn you away! There are so many fun activities and history in this town. The town of Bourne was first settled by the Pilgrims in 1640. In 1627, the first Aptuxcet Trading Post store was established and it still remains today! The Aptuxcet Trading Post has since been turned into a museum and makes a great visit on a rainy day. Another great adventure in Bourne is the canal bike path! Did you know that our canal was man made?
It was implemented to increase productivity for the import/export business and it saved time and effort for the boaters as they could utilize the calm waters of the canal instead of going around. Take a ride on your blades, bike or take leisurely stroll with the family. Last but not least, grab a cup of chowder from the Lobster Pot and take it over to the train bridge for the sunset! With plenty of picnic tables, the canal is a great place to snack and relax with friends and family.
If coffee, corn hole and creative breakfast/lunch sandwiches is more your speed be sure to check out the Daily Brew. Don’t be afraid of the line out the door, the girls working behind the counter will be sure to take care of you in a timely manner. When finishing up at the brew and are looking to stretch your legs, head over to the mini golf course in the same location! The Cataumet Crossing Light mini golf and bumper boats is great for children and families of all ages! Sagamore and Scussett beach are the beaches to be at if you are here to soak up the sun.
The views of Cape Cod Bay are unparralled, and if you’re lucky maybe you’ll spot a Right Whale! Last but not least, if you are a Golfer then Brookside Golf Course is a MUST. It was recently voted one of the top public courses in Massachusetts and it’s views, course and restaurant are hard to beat.
